I was completely frustrated with trying to thoughtfully grasp and teach the mysteries of the Word of God. Every system of theology left me feeling as if someone from Mars was trying to explain the culture of Venus by looking through binoculars. Then I listened to a teaching on “Blood Covenant” by Malcolm Smith. I was completely undone.
Times Time and a Half Time

That phrase is from the scriptures meaning three and a half years and indicating a time of tribulation and suffering. Believers are called to wisdom when faced with such times in the Revelation of John. We are also called to endurance. Church, pay attention to your life during this season. The American situation is worse than we think. Our economy is being propped up artificially. We are not surviving right now on good principles but on extreme measures.
Rolland Baker - Update

I am surrounded by the rolling green hills of western Germany. Rich groves of shade trees line the winding country lane on which I am taking my daily prayer walk. The day is beautiful, filled with blue sky and brilliant clouds. Cows graze lazily behind fences. An occasional farm tractor rumbles by. Hay is stacked high in the fields. Rabbits scurry under bushes. Grass is growing tall along the path, and I brush it aside as I walk. I'm a mile outside the little village where I am staying, enjoying my private time with Jesus...

Reflections on Ted Haggard

I heard someone say that assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. Take any person, find the darkest secret in their life, blow it up out of all proportion, assume the worst, publicize it to the world on every news outlet, define their name by that act and you have successfully eliminated them from meaningful participation in public life. Take the same person, discover their greatest sin, surround them with mercy and compassion, assume the best, protect them from exploitation, walk them through pain to hope to renewal to restoration and you have successfully preserved and enhanced their influence and public impact. In the latter case the failure frames their life message, in the former case they become a by-word and a mockery. The latter is redemptive, the former demonic.

A Public Statement on Ted Haggard
No one is defined by their worst moments. To understand a person you have to walk with them for many years. Gayle Haggard knew the real Ted before she knew about the fomenting torment of his soul. She just did not know his darkest parts. We are all adept at hiding those bits of ourselves which are least appealing. The truth about Ted Haggard was seen in his day to day pastoring and leading of a congregation that grew to some 14,000 people.

Strangely Intimidated!
Yes I have been slow to post the first entry on the blog because I have been strangely intimidated by the simple technology. But I got over myself and dived in. So! Let me give an introduction. We are going to be examining a book by Gregory A. Boyd and Paul R. Eddy called Across the Spectrum. It is a book that surveys theological positions that are considered to be within the 'spectrum' of orthodoxy by generally evangelical theologians. So far we have examined 3 major issues, they are;
