Can Jesus Be Sticky?

In Malcom Gladwell's book called "the Tipping Point." He shares 3 principles for causing what he calls a Tipping Point.
The nearest thing to a tipping point is what we call an epidemic. It's when the momentum for change becomes unstoppable. It's like a disease that is running through a community and can't be stopped.
He says the 3 things you need to cause a Tipping point are an infected agent, contagiousness & an environment for that thing to grow.

Jesus and Politics

While most Christians debate Church and State with an eye toward trying to establish that our nation was founded as a 'Christian' nation, let us instead think on politics as the Reformation and Radical Reformation traditions dealt with it. On the one hand the legacy of the Reformation is the failed state religions of western Europe which have largely been laid aside in favor of secular nations. On the other hand is the pacifist religious traditions that have weakened more and more over the five centuries. In America we have the hybrid reality of vibrant churches that

Calling all Saints!
The youth of New Life City are in the beginning stages of an amazing growth period. New students are showing up weekly and the group is plunging in to the things of the Kingdom of God.

I was completely frustrated with trying to thoughtfully grasp and teach the mysteries of the Word of God. Every system of theology left me feeling as if someone from Mars was trying to explain the culture of Venus by looking through binoculars. Then I listened to a teaching on “Blood Covenant” by Malcolm Smith. I was completely undone.
Times Time and a Half Time

That phrase is from the scriptures meaning three and a half years and indicating a time of tribulation and suffering. Believers are called to wisdom when faced with such times in the Revelation of John. We are also called to endurance. Church, pay attention to your life during this season. The American situation is worse than we think. Our economy is being propped up artificially. We are not surviving right now on good principles but on extreme measures.

I am surrounded by the rolling green hills of western Germany. Rich groves of shade trees line the winding country lane on which I am taking my daily prayer walk. The day is beautiful, filled with blue sky and brilliant clouds. Cows graze lazily behind fences. An occasional farm tractor rumbles by. Hay is stacked high in the fields. Rabbits scurry under bushes. Grass is growing tall along the path, and I brush it aside as I walk. I'm a mile outside the little village where I am staying, enjoying my private time with Jesus...

Strengthen Yourselves in the Lord

Ok, I haven't done this in awhile. I am posting because of a conversation I had with Alan tonight about my class based on Bill Johnson's book, Strengthen Yourself in the Lord.
We were discussing the chapter on thankfulness tonight. Being thankful is one of the tools Pastor Bill lists as a way to strengthen yourself. As I was preparing for tonight's class, the Lord gave me these thoughts about our lives, so I write them here for you.
Reflections on Ted Haggard

I heard someone say that assumption is the lowest form of knowledge. Take any person, find the darkest secret in their life, blow it up out of all proportion, assume the worst, publicize it to the world on every news outlet, define their name by that act and you have successfully eliminated them from meaningful participation in public life. Take the same person, discover their greatest sin, surround them with mercy and compassion, assume the best, protect them from exploitation, walk them through pain to hope to renewal to restoration and you have successfully preserved and enhanced their influence and public impact. In the latter case the failure frames their life message, in the former case they become a by-word and a mockery. The latter is redemptive, the former demonic.

A Public Statement on Ted Haggard
No one is defined by their worst moments. To understand a person you have to walk with them for many years. Gayle Haggard knew the real Ted before she knew about the fomenting torment of his soul. She just did not know his darkest parts. We are all adept at hiding those bits of ourselves which are least appealing. The truth about Ted Haggard was seen in his day to day pastoring and leading of a congregation that grew to some 14,000 people.
